Welcome to Ekstrand Verksted!

Ekstrand Verksted was started in 1928 and has its premises on the Langesunds Fjord near Brevik in Norway.

Today Ekstrand Verksted employs 25 people. Its work is divided mainly between offshore equipment and ship repairs. We also do service and and repairs for the important process industry located in our region.

The latest years we have made significant investments in new modern CNC machining equipment.

The shipyard has a 100 meter long quay with a depth alongside of 6 meters together with a 1.000 square meter covered building hall equipped with a 70 tonne capacity gantry crane. The yard has facilities for steel and aluminum work, and is also equipped to undertake hull and deck repairs.

On the ship repair side, Ekstrand Verksted can accommodate large vessels for floating repairs. If dry docking is required, the company will send the ship to docking facilities in Porsgrunn.

Regular customers for ship repair and conversions include Boa Offshore, Seatrans, Bukser & Berging and Partsrederiet Leiren. On the new building side, the shipyard has a lot of experience in building vessels of up to 20 meters in length such as tugs, fishing boats and specialized barges including split hopper barges for dredging and coastal protection work.

We have even built two Jack-Up drilling rigs for the Norwegian Coastal Administration NCA.

Ekstrand Verksted is also part owner of the company Taklift. A/S which operates an 400 tonne capacity floating crane.

Ekstrand Verksted has built some 30 tugs for customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. Specialized work has included building aluminum deck houses, stairs and bow sections for two big ScandLines ferries, the Tycho Brahe and Aurora af Hesingborg.

When building a restaurant section for the Sandefjord to Stromstad ferry Bohus, the ferry was out of operation for only one day while the installation was carried out by us at Ekstrand Verksted.

The yard also made a major rebuilding of a cargo ship for the Netherlands-based potato starch company Avebe.

We have fabricated series of hydraulic operated drilling and pipe handling equipment for customers like National Oilwell Varco. This fabrication process includes all from steel fitting and welding to mechanical and hydraulic fitting.

It also includes full factory acceptance test with representatives from client, customer and class society present.

Ekstrand Verksted has a 24h standby service prepared for the production of special designed clamps for leakage repair for the land and offshore based process industry.

We have had a lifelong relationship with the American company Furmanite with this service.

Please look at the contact page to situate our position if needed.

We are looking forward to hear from you in order to discuss any project or answer any question.
